The Superintendent of Schools, under the general direction of the school board, is head of the District Management Team, and is responsible for:

  • Supervision of the requirements of the School Act
  • Organization, administration, supervision and evaluation of all educational programs
  • Operation of the schools in the district
  • Overall supervision and direction of staff
  • The Superintendent of Schools also shares important information with students, parents and staff
  • The Superintendent also provides regular updates to the Board at its public meetings.

The office of the Secretary-Treasurer also falls within the Superintendent’s jurisdiction.

The major responsibilities of the Secretary-Treasurer’s Office include:

  • Overseeing the business operations of the district, as well as providing support to the trustees
  • Recording and maintaining records for the board and standing committee meetings
  • Coordinating board and standing committee meetings, and creating and distributing board correspondence
  • Providing business, budget and financial advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Overseeing Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy requests
  • Fulfilling the responsibilities and requirements of the Secretary-Treasurer as outlined in the School Act



The Information Technology Services Department supports technology initiatives within the School District. The Department is committed to:

  • making technology more accessible and relevant for students in their learning activities;
  • supporting staff with their use of technology;
  • supporting the District with relevant information and data to ensure effective decision making;
  • designing and maintaining the necessary technical infrastructure;
  • maintaining a level of service that is cost effective, timely in delivery and superior in quality.

Information Technology Services provides technology planning, implementation, support and integration for administrative and instructional sites. Reporting to the Secretary Treasurer and to an Assistant Superintendent, the IT Services Department is located in the School Board Office.

Help Desk and Onsite Technology Support – Main point of contact for all technology issues is your site Tech Contact who provide onsite technology support to all schools. They work in concert with the Help Desk and assist schools in their technology planning.

Technology Infrastructure – Comprised of network operations as well as server and data centre operations. Designs and supports wired and wireless networks, wide area networks, school and district servers and systems that support the infrastructure.

The Facilities Department is committed to supporting our staff and students in our K-12 education programs. To achieve this goal, we will ensure our building and transportation programs met legal and regulatory requirements in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.



Reporting to the Superintendent and Secretary Treasurer, the Administrative Services Department located in the School Board Office oversees the day to day operations of the district it consist of:

Human Resources

The Human Resources department provides core human resource services and processes, including recruitment processes, employee documentation and record-keeping, benefits management, health and safety management, contract interpretation and negotiation, communication of human resource policies, dispatch of casual employees, conflict management and dispute resolution, and assistance in change management and reallocation of resources.

Financial Services

The Financial Services staff are responsible for financial analysis and reporting, accounting operations, and payroll and benefits administration for seven employee groups. Main functions of the Department include administering payrolls and related employee benefit plans, cash management, accounts payable and receivable administration, preparing annual operating and trust fund budgets, allocating staffing resources, supplies and services budgets to schools and departments, monitoring actual expenditures as compared to the budget allocations for the operating, capital and trust funds, preparing year-end audited financial statements, and providing financial administration support and training to schools and departments.

Communication Services

The Communications Services department works closely with trustees, district leadership and schools to facilitate and support clear, accessible, accurate and timely communications – both with school communities and within the district itself. The department oversees a wide range of internal and external communications activities, including community engagement, media relations, marketing, district branding and visual identity.

Data Custodian

The Data Custodian is responsible for the District Data in MyEducation BC to inform district leadership, support data collection, and reporting to the Board and Ministry of Education. They provide support to schools to ensure the data collected is correct and within compliance to FIPPA.
